Kye's Room Revealed

Well, after 3 long months, Kye's room is officially revealed. We started over spring break scraping woodwork and painting. It turned into a disaster when the light gray paint looked baby blue and the dark gray paint we picked for the woodwork looked army green. Ugh! No home improvement project goes smoothly for us, so why did we think a little painting would too? Anyways, we ended up changing our color scheme (to some color with the word chocolate in it...you cannot go wrong with that!) and hired a painter. So here's his room.

Here's a peek at Kye's bulletin board. That yellow thing hanging on the side is a duck noise maker and it's really loud.

This here is where he sleeps. Did you know Kye rolls out of his bed at least once per week? It's not surprising to hear a thud in the middle of the night. I'm always awakened and ask Brandon, "What was that?" He just says, "That's Kye, dear. Now go back to sleep."

This here is Kye's dresser. Thank goodness I closed that top drawer you see there before I took this picture. It's full of undies! This is the cleanest I've seen the top of his dresser in months.

This here picture was taken by Uncle Brett when they went to the Cubs game last June. Kye stuffed himself so silly at that game that his stomach was a bit upset on the way home. It was worth it...Cubs won!

This here thing on the wall is called a Fat Head. They are pretty neat. It's a big sticker that you slap up on your wall. They claim you can peel it off and it won't hurt your wall (or paint). You can always take them down and put them up again.

And last, but not least, is the Cubs pennant that Grandma & Grandpa got Kye for his birthday. I nailed it up on the wall last week. I didn't like how it looked, so I took it down and nailed it back up in a different spot. Don't tell anyone, but there are 3 extra holes in the wall. Sshhhh...

T.G.I.F.

Just 12 hours ago, I was wearing sweatpants and a tee shirt, laying in bed miserable! Brandon had me covered up to my neck in 4 blankets. Headache, chills, dizzy, and some other yucky symptoms that no one should be reading about! I think around 3 a.m. the Tylenol kicked in and I was able to sleep. I'm not 100% up to snuff, but lots better than last night. I am thankful that Camden is taking an early nap. I plan to go make myself a permanent fixture in my recliner. Being sick in the summer is weird!

A Heck of a Day!

The Diamond Jaxx played in the Morton Tournament this weekend. They played hard and had a good time. Their record in this tournament was 2-1. Friday night they beat Christian Center in a heart-stopping last inning with a score of 9-7. On Saturday, they played Bloomington Renegades and Morton. They beat the Renegades hands down 15-5. They lost to Morton 5-8.

Please allow me to brag for a moment. This boy here played outstanding ball against the Renegades. Here's what I know...Kye pitched a complete game...yep, all 6 innings! I about died when they put him in to pitch his 4th inning, my jaw about dropped when they put him in to pitch the 5th inning, and I was jumping out of my seat when they put him in to finish up the game. He tells me he had 5 or 6 strikeouts that game. Additionally, he had 3 doubles and a triple in that game. Way to go, Kye!

And here they are again. Have I mentioned that the boys here (and the big people) have lots of fun in this league?

Snickers Taste Test

So you may have figured out by now that I am a HUGE chocoholic. I sit writing this post CRAVING a Snickers Bar. Help, someone!! I may go into convulsions if I don't get one soon. So here's the scoop. I do not like just any Snickers Bar (okay...so maybe in a pinch I'm not too picky!) I really do prefer just the good ole' normal size Snickers. It's perfect in every way. I have even perfected eating one so that I can finish it off in 4 equal bites...no joke! So you are probably wondering what's wrong with the other kinds of Snickers bars. The fun size and bite size...not enough oomph for me...actually I have to shove several into my mouth to make up for the smallness. As for king size...too gooey compared to a regular Snickers. Yep, I think I'll just stick to the good ole' fashioned Snickers.
So here's a fond memory of the good ole' Snickers Bar. A few months before Brandon and I got married, my good friend Cari and me signed up to do some step aerobics at the Rec Center. Ya know, we were wanting to lose a few pounds and all. Now for those of you who know me, I'm not much into exercising! Sorry, it's a downfall I have. Anyways, we spent an hour sweating and hyperventilating trying to keep pace with our instructor. Cari almost collapsed afterward and had to lay on my bathroom floor when we returned to our house. As for me, I could hardly walk. So after Cari peeled herself off my bathroom floor and returned home to her homestead, I broke into the jar of snack size Snickers Bars that were sitting (or should I say calling my name) on the counter. So I'm faithful to the Snickers Bar right? I wouldn't want to disappoint anyone. So I frantically start shoving one after the other in my mouth. In mid chew, the phone rings. I answer it. "hewoe" "Brooke, is that you?" "mmmhhh" "Are you eating something?" "mmmhhh" "Whatcha eating?" "mmmhhh" "You're eating a Snickers aren't you?" Busted! It was Cari calling to check up on me. Ha! So much for the step aerobics.

The Many Faces of Camden

Gotta Love Summer

Last week, Jordyn and Kye had fun playing in the neighbor's sprinkler with their good friend Nikki. They used the picnic table as a slip-n-slide. (Check out Kye's farmer tan!)

Consign Me Up!

At the end of March, I cleaned out the kids' clothing and took some of their nicer pieces up to a local consignment shop. The store clerk offered me money on the spot for the clothes ($8 to be exact), but I felt that I would do better with consigning the clothes. She gave me my account number and told me I could check to see if I have a credit online. So for the past 2 1/2 months, I have been faithfully checking my account balance. It's always been $0. I was feeling some frustration. Unfortunately, the first $10 you make goes towards opening an account so that wasn't helping my cause. However, tonight I was pleasantly surprised. I have a whole whopping $1.10 in my account now. I promise not to spend it all in one place!

Green Thumb

This is it folks...the extent of my green thumb. Not too bad for someone who knows nothing about flowers!

Yep...That's My Husband

Lovely, isn't it? I was goofing around with my camera the other night trying to figure some things out. Brandon was sitting next to me, so I was using him as the subject. He was becoming quite irritated with me, so this is what he did right before I snapped a shot. Little did he know that this picture would end up on our blog!

It's Been a Big Week for Jordyn!

Congratulations, Jordyn, on your awards this week: Top Accelerated Reader, Character Counts, Physical Fitness, and Presidential Achievement. So what does all that mean? Her grades are good, she's a great reader, she displays good character at school and she does okay in PE. Here are some pics...

Here's the biggie! Jordyn's name is engraved on the Accelerated Reader plaque at our school for being the top reader. She read over 7 million words this school year in her leisurely time.

Proud as can be, hanging on to that plaque!

Did she really get this award for displaying good character?

Another biggie award...the last Character Counts award of the year is given to the student who displays all around character.
