So here's the story...Kathy Dunham (er, I mean Dr. Dunham) is a stitch. She is a co-worker of mine and has been telling me for weeks that she can deliver this baby if he decides to make his grand appearance at school. She came dressed for the occasion today...just in case! I was a little freaked out by the tongs, though. So Kathy, thank you for the good laugh and remember, you only have to be on call for one more day!

Let the Countdown Begin...and Other Random Thoughts
Today marks 38 weeks, 2 days prego. Nothing too new to report, other than I'm a good 3 cm. dilated and 75% effaced. The plan is to still be induced on Friday. We have to report to the hospital at 5:00 a.m. My doctor assured me today that I WOULD be getting an epidural this time. Cross your fingers, please! My goal is to have this baby by 8:00 a.m. That would actually be a long labor for me if things get rolling by 6:00 a.m.
Today I scrambled to get some last minute things done. Before my doctors appointment I went and got my eyebrows defuzzed. Then, after my appointment I stopped at the mall and got a pedicure and manicure. I was so excited when I walked in and this guy motioned me his way. This was the same guy I got the last time I went and he gives an awesome pedicure! He massaged my swollen, Fred Flinstone-like feet for well over 10 minutes. Bliss!
Other random thoughts...
We washed our bedding today. There is nothing like getting into a bed with clean sheets!
Brandon and I just sat down to watch American Idol. It better be worth me staying up late to watch!
My mom and I are going grocery shopping tomorrow. It doesn't seem so bad now that I have someone else to go with! I even have my list ready to go!

Our Journey to Durham
Before Brandon and I got married, we had talked about having kids. We knew we wanted 2 kiddos our own. Call us crazy if you wish (I can handle it!)...we were/are up to the challenge of being a 6 member household. We figured when the time came to have kids, it'd be no problem. Boy were we wrong! Unfortunately, shortly after we were married, I was diagnosed with secondary infertility. That's a fancy term for when you have already had kids, and then for some reason can't get pregnant later on. I knew something wasn't right...strange things were happening to my body. Sometimes my cycle would last for months on end and sometimes it would disappear for months on end. Then other things started to happen...you see, I developed this "She-Man" syndrome (someday I'll coin the term!). I started to grow hair where NO woman should grow hair. I also started to lose hair where NO woman should lose hair. Needless to say, my tweezers and bi-weekly waxing appointments became my best friend. Then, the acne appeared...I looked like I was in jr. high again! At first, my doctor thought I had Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, but at further glace at my ovaries both her and my infertility doctor weren't sold. So basically, the other 2 diagnoses I've received through this ordeal have been anovulation (means you don't ovulate) and irregular menses (whacked out periods).
With Camden, we went through 6 rounds of Clomid, which resulted in nothing but a lot of hot flashes for me. We were then sent to an infertility specialist in Indianapolis. He sent us home with a hope & a prayer (and a shot and some pills...and a whole new drug protocol when that wasn't suppose to work). Well, what'd ya know...2 weeks later we found out we were pregnant with Camden. When we knew we were ready to try for #4, we again tried 3 more rounds of Clomid, which resulted in more hot flashes and a whole lot of nothing. We headed back to Indianapolis to meet with our infertility doc. He again sent us home with a hope & a prayer (and a shot and some pills...and a whole new drug protocol when that wasn't suppose to work.) He also said if the shot/pills worked this time, I'd need to buy him a lottery ticket because we were some lucky folks...unfortunately, the little concoction he sent us home with didn't work and we were onto a new protocol.
So, during the next month, infertility treatments became a full time job for us. At first, it wasn't too bad. I started by taking a pill each day for 5 days. Then the fun began...injections! Each night, Brandon and I would put the kids to bed and then turn into mad scientists...mixing up a concotion of hormones that he would later inject into my belly. Once injections started, I was monitored very closely. I had to get my hormone levels and ovaries checked every other day to make sure things were in check. Unfortunately, one of my horomones (estradiol?) was pokey and I had to stay with the injections for longer than usual (8 days total). Needless to say, after it was all said and done with, the cycle was a failure. At that point, I was ordered by our infertility guy to take a month off (normal protocol to let your ovaries rest) and then start up the following month. I was kind of panicking because the timing of things would have put us starting round 2 right at the start of the school year...how was I suppose to work and manage running to appointments every other day?
Well, as we were sitting here twiddling our thumbs one night during that month off waiting for my cycle to start (Sept. 3rd to be exact)...I noticed that my boobs were sore. Brandon went out to the Wal Mart and got a prego test. What'd ya know...it came back positive! So started the journey to Durham.
I can't believe that was 9 months ago...time seemed to stand still way back when. Now, reality is setting in that next week, we are going to meet our new little guy. Yeah!

Easter 2009
We headed to Gridley for Easter at Mom & Dad's. The whole family was there and a nice time was had by all.
Kye begged to hold her all day long...finally it was his turn.
Elsa hopped in for a photo.
We headed outdoors for the big Easter egg hunt. Each child was assigned a color of egg to find. Max and Camden are here displaying their loot!

I went to the doctor this morning for my 36 week check up. The first thing my doctor said when she walked in the room was, "Let's see if this baby is still cockeyed." (Translation...breech). Nope, not anymore. The baby is head down and ready to make his grand appearance (probably in a couple more weeks!). I am 1 cm. dilated and 50% effaced. She is still convinced it's a big baby, so she said, "The sooner...the better."
I spent all day on Friday getting the baby's room ready and marking things off my to-do list. I only have a couple more "baby" things to do before the big day, but I'm in much better shape than I was a few days ago.
So at 36 weeks prego...here are some interesting facts:
*I can still wear my wedding ring. It goes on like a breeze in the morning but getting it off at night...well, let's just say I have to do everything short of cutting it off!
*As for my ankles...still look like stuffed sausages before I go to bed!
*I wake up 3 to 4 times each night to potty. Is this nature's cruel way of preparing one for late night feedings?
*My current craving...DQ Dilly Bars & Golden Graham cereal.
*I really can't bend over anymore so I have perfected getting something I dropped on the floor with my feet.

Easter pics to come either tonight or tomorrow.
