Today I am laughing...yesterday I was not. Actually I was feeling a bit disappointed. Brandon and I really thought we might be ready to build a house. Long story short...the opportunity fell into our laps about a week ago. We would have broken ground this summer and the construction would have taken place over the course of 2 years (yes...I said 2 years!! A vocational class at the high school builds houses and the process takes 2 years). We spent the weekend looking at house plans, had our lot picked out and then.........we went to the bank! Oh my! It costs a whole lot to build a house (even with free labor from the high school students and a tax break on the materials). There would have been no room for error in terms of sticking to our budget. So we aren't gamblers and decided it's not the right time for us.
So now that we know we'll be sticking around in our humble little house for another few years...we are excited to spruce it up a little bit more.

A Little Bit of Play
This past week has been spring break. Although we had anticipated a nice, relaxing break...it's been anything but. We had even planned an overnight get-a-way...but that didn't happen. The culprit...Kye's room (pictures to come in the next few days!). It was to be a simple painting project. It turned into a disaster (more info later). To sum it up, we ended up hiring a painter to redo and finish the work we started.
So anyways, among all the work, the kids found time for a little play. These pictures were taken at the school's playground across the street.
We were conducting a little science experiment here...to see how high Camden's hair would stand on end.

A little brotherly love...these 2 love each other!
Jordyn and her BFF (am I sounding a little pre-teenish?), Nikki
Kye on the pogo stick...he didn't know his mama is an ole' pro at the pogo stick! He about died when I got on there and could actually do it...Do you believe me? Pictures to come!

Trilogy
I absolutely love Nicholas Sparks' books! The problem arose when I read all of his books. I had a run where I wasn't reading anything...because it wasn't Nicholas Sparks. Not too long ago, I asked the librarian for recommendations of books that I might like. I told her that I was into Nicholas Sparks' books. She recommended this author...Richard Paul Evans. I took her advice, and to my surprise, really liked this trilogy. Check it out!
Read this one 1st:

Now don't get crazy and read em' out of order! Run along now and read!

Nothing Like the Wal-Mart Easter Bunny

Headed over to the local Wal-Mart this afternoon. An announcement came over the intercom..."Attention Wal-Mart shoppers. The Easter Bunny is awaiting visitors in the back of the store." Who'd have guessed the Easter Bunny would be there? So I picked up the pace, nearly knocking other shoppers out of my way with my cart so I could get to the back of the store...Camden's never seen the Easter Bunny (EB). I wouldn't want him to miss it. We got back there, got in line and waited. At first, Camden thought the EB was great fun. He was screaming, "puppy" and pointing at EB. When it came time to sit on EB's lap, the look of fear fell across his face. I think I would be fearful too, as the EB's mouth and monstrous teeth looked as though it was going to gobble up each and every kid that sat on his lap. The picture was quick and painless and we got a nice memento out of it.

Hillbilly Bath
Last weekend I mentioned to my husband that the bathtub drain was draining slowly. I asked if he would fix it. "Yep" was the answer. For those of you who don't know, Brandon is a HUGE procrastinator. So it didn't get done. This afternoon Camden was in desperate need of a bath. He was quite greasy! I went upstairs to put him in the tub and the tub was full of water...Clogged! Brandon's at basketball games all day today, therefore I'm in charge of unclogging the drain...Draino here I come! In the meantime, Camden got his first Hillbilly bath!Saturday, March 8, 2008

The Dreaded Appointment...
In less than 24 hours, I will be sitting in the dentist's chair. Have I ever told you I absolutely despise going to the dentist? Well I do! I sweat profusely for the 30 minutes I sit in the chair and my knuckles turn white as I grip the chair for dear life.
It hasn't always been like this...only in the past few year have I dreaded going. Here's the story...right before our wedding, I was trying to whiten my teeth. I accidentally feel asleep with the Crest White Strips on...so rather than a 30 minute whitening session...I got a 7 hour session. When I woke up, I looked in the mirror and part of my gums were white. I didn't think anything of it and went about brushing my teeth as normal. In the next few days, I realized I had brushed away some of my gums. The next time I went to the dentist it hurt like the dickens! I evidently had not only brushed away some of my gums...I exposed a couple roots! Still, I wasn't too worried. For the next 6 months, I babied my gums. I went out to the drug store and bought this little gadget that claimed it promoted good gum health. When I returned to the dentist, I asked the hygienist who was cleaning my teeth how my gums looked. I explained to her that I was using this gadget to promote good gum health and asked her if my gums were growing back. She looked at me like I was crazy! It was then that I knew I was doomed...she told me that your gums don't grow back. Ugh!! So every time I go to the dentist, they hit my exposed root and it nearly sends me through the roof. This, my dear friends, is my story of why I hate going to the dentist.
